an implementation idea for this: when we edit the Drop-down list property control, under the settings session when 'Unique values in column' selected, there should be a 3rd configuration option (next to the Data table and Column ones) for configuring the sort order based on an another column - this way we'd have the freedom to either use an existing column or creating a new calculated column with a custom Rank() function or any other logic in it to build an integer sorting order for the drop down property control
