Let's say that I am to create analysis files to track sales and some other key indicator values of drugs (or whatever the products are).
I have to create a number of analysis files containing multiple visualizaitons over multiple pages.
I need consistancy in color assignment for durgs in appropreate visualizations. I want my product always assigned to be red, other products always in blue, yellow, and etc.. when I create new visualization and use product name as "color by" category.
In current TIBCO Spotfire, "color scheme" functioality let me define a preferred color pallette and the "ORDER" of color assinment.
So, depending on values (sales, share, number of doctors, etc) looked at, the colors are assigned differently when I create new visualizations, pages, and analysis files.
Even if templates are prepared with enormous efforts, I have to start over color-assignment from the beginning.
In addition, "template dxp" approach does not allow me to add/edit/delete new drug color assignment.
Many I find the functionality of TIBCO Spotfire dissappointing, as it behaves differently from what I get excited and expects.
Often, I are frustrated by Excel in creating graphs and charts. They have to assign color one-by-one in all charts in Excel file.
The same problem of very time-consuming task remains with TIBCO Spotfire in the current "color scheme" functionality. Unhappy with TIBCO Spotfire as there is no productivity gain in this respect.
< SUGGESTIONS >
It would be nice if one can create color master table either in TIBCO Spotfire, Analytics Server, or in some other application. Then, a dxp file points to or import the master table file. When "color by" is assinged the specific category column, TIBCO Spotfire then looks up the master color table and assign the color values.
In this way, multiple visualizaitons, over multiple pages, in multiple analysis files, and consistantly use the same color scheme assigned to categoy column "product".
This approach also let one to add/delete/edit the master table.
We (TIBCO Spotfire Japan) think that this enhancement would benefit large body of I and have very high business impact as powerful differentiation from tidious and time consuming Excel reports."
