Currently, the only way to export with custom theme is to take a screenshot, or opening the file on webplayer and printing the webpage. This will be highly beneficial for those who create daily reports and need use automatic services to export and email the report. This is implemented in Spotfire 7.10 for PDF Export.
It would be also useful for ppt Export. But more importantly, we require this functionality to work with the render function for visualisations in the API.

@Dave - We have also experienced the awful PDF quality, particularly for anything in the text areas. Does your solution just call automation services to print out the pdf? Keen on having a chat gareth DOT robins AT eroad DOT com
agree with this one Josh - we are wrapping web player in a frame and adding a custom button to the frame to render the web player content as either a pdf or jpg to get around the terrible printing/pdf production in the web player - in particular when using the dark theme.
In fact - we had to turn off the toolbar completely because the printing was working soo poorly for our users... too many complaints.
