Formating Options for Markers Fill and Outline (Colors, Transparency, Dash Type, Width)

Dear all,

There are cases were we want to format the markers of a visualization by setting the fill color white and choosing a color only for the outline of the marker.  Just like we do in PowerPoint, we might also want to set the transparency, dash type and with of the outline.

Currently we cant do this in Spotfire.  This is particularly useful when we are plotting data with a lot of categories and might want to expand the number of options for a specific range of colors.

Thanks!

JC

Hi Niklas, just some feedback from us on this one.  Yes we use that in scatterplots alot - it is important where theres alot of data.  For us it generally is needed in all visualisations with a marker including combo charts and line charts so that we are able to clearly separate out series by clearly identifiable markers.  If we could also do this with the line style (dotted, dashed, solid) thatd be great, but thats not in the above request.

Juan, to make sure I get this correctly: do you specifically think about line charts where you use "show markers"? For the Scatterplot it seems to me you can acheive the described results by choosing a circle as "Shape"?

Yes completely agree - on line charts, we would like to be able to specify line type AND marker shape and marker fill/colour.  This is an essential charting functionality.
