Often I will have two nearly identical data tables within the same Spotfire file, e.g. two different budget forecasts. I will have created a visualization against one of the data tables and then I want to copy that visualization and merely change the data table being visualized. When I do this, all the configuration of the visualization, i.e. columns, coloring, data slicing, is all lost and I have to rebuild the visualization from scratch even though the data in the new data table is identical to that from which I have switched.
I would suggest that when switching data tables within a visualization that Spotfire first check to see if column names match and to apply all the visualization set-up to that new data table prior to "re-setting" the visualization. I feel like this happens when dragging a visualization from one DXP file to another and that a similar "behind-the-scenes" check could be made which changing the data table.
