I've read through the reasons the 'Edit Column Properties' was added to the flyout. I don't find it quicker. The opposite. I don't understand the removal of the menu item. Can there be a menu choice and a flyout navigation? Then you use the one you find most convenient.

The column details view (properties) in the data panel is now persistent, meaning that Spotfire remembers the last state that was used, allowing users to reopen the Data in Analysis flyout directly in the mode. In addition to this, Data > Column Properties menu entry has been reintroduced as a shortcut to the new workflow. Selecting Data > Column Properties opens the column details view in the data panel. New Column Properties Interface is terrible.
You either see original column names or you edit columns with a toggle switch.
Few months ago I sent an email to Arnaud with some thoughts on where should spotfire go, mainly in terms of ux... Seems like update after update is still keeping focus in things that are not important to users... Just check Ideas portal threads and how old they are and its votes. it´s simple. I saw videos on youtube recently of "Dr. Spotfire" explaining trillions of lines of python to create a simple mouseover hint hack. Half the time used to record and edit that video could easily be focused on implementing that solution as a native feature. And many others.
Sorry about my tone, but the "New column properties interface" was a development effort easily unproductive. or.. as we call here... a "deprovement".
