Views in connection should work with large, slow databases

When adding a new data table from e.g. SQL server in the "Views in Connection" dialog Spotfire waits for all metadata to load with the Custom Query button being greyed out. I request that the Custom Query option be available before the schema has been loaded.

In some cases (e.g. over slow connections) it is impossible to add data tables from large databases with 1000s of tables because we experience a timeout before getting the meta data. An alternative solution is adding an option for nolock.

No, I have not attempted this recently. It might have gotten better.

Hi Hans, have you tried the latest Spotfire release and seen the same issue? We had a bug for a short while that made the connector work with Azure SQL but slowed down SQL Server metadata loading. I like the idea of allowing you to skip to the custom query UI directly.
