Information Designer read access

We want Information Designer read access to enable the functionality of checking SQL queries and Data Source Name. In current scenario, users does not have access for Information Designer and Data Source. Users should be able to view the SQL queries and Data Source names but they should not be able to do any modification of Information Links and Data Sources or add new Information Links and Data Sources.

That's because you added the user to the Administrators group or the Library Administrator's group. He/she should not be a member of neither of these groups or they will have full access to the library.

We tried this from our end. We provided Create Information Link license to the user and Browse + Access for the Information Link folder but the user were still able to edit and modify queries present in IL.

Try adding the Create Information Link license, which we grant to all author users. This shouldn't be a concern for you since you can control where they save info links to and you can set folder permissions on the info links they should be able to see but not change (you should obviously removed Modify role from them).

Users have all the licenses except for TIBCO Spotfire Administrator and Create Information Link & Custom Query in Connections under TIBCO Spotfire Analyst. Other than this users have Browse + Access + Modify role given on folder levels.

Sorry I disagree. I just tested this on 6.5/7.9 and I can still open an Info Link and see the SQL which I don't have write access to. Can you state clearly what permissions and licenses the user has?

We tried this actually. If write permissions are not provided then user won't be able to access Information Designer and then the SQL query for any particular IL.

You can do this already. Just have the license enabled for the user but don't given them write permissions in the library objects, just read and browse.
