Spotfire Proxy Cache

With all the issues and problems in the past with proxy servers, I was wondering if it would be beneficial to not only yourselves, but the business community, if you built or supplied your own proxy and caching server with Spotfire Server that can be easily configured, managed and changed for Spotfire Analyst and Web Player.

This would essentially be a Proxy Server for other Proxy Servers out there.

  • Spotfire Analyst -> Spotfire Proxy Cache -> Corporate Proxy / Internet Connection
  • Spotfire Node (Web/Automation) -> Spotfire Proxy Cache -> Corporate Proxy / Internet Connection
  • Attach files

Hi, regarding the first point can you be more specific? Proxy and Firewall issues are you trying to address? Have a look at the new sites functionality on 7.9 (see link below) which allow you to have different servers with different authentication settings potentially allowing to have a server which is configured for external access.

Your second point should also benefit from the new sites functionality. Although I don't think Spotfire reports are that content heavy to need intensive caching.

There are a number of problems that this would resolve:

    • Enterprise Proxy and Firewall issues with configuration and authentication
    • Cache most accessed and used content like map tiles close to the Spotfire Server for multi-geographical servers.
    • Address basic level spotfire server administrators that don't often read the advanced configuration options of Spotfire.

I don't really get this idea. What specific problem or user feature are you trying to address?
