setting decimals of the back digit of E+ (scientific formatting)

Sometimes the number occupies too much space compared to graph when setting 'scientific formatting'.

For example, in '1E + 001', the back digits of E+ are all fixed to three digits.

I want to set decimals of the back digit of E+.

A more flexible way of formatting would be great. Preferably, implement a c-style sprintf functionality. That would allow almost any type of formatting required.
