Similar to offerings from GIS programs, being able to create a georeference PDF of a mapchart- including data layers- would allow for wider use of the mapchart by mobile applications outside of the office. Having a georeferenced PDF on an app such as Avenza, allows users to track their movements through a PDF by using their mobile phone's GPS (saving $ on not having to have a handheld GPS). The filtered layers from Spotfire add functionality over a normal paper map or handheld GPS. Being able to do this through Spotfire (as opposed to other GIS programs) would streamline the process of getting the required data in a clear format for field use.
What would be needed:
- Georeference PDF print option for Mapcharts
- PDF printer would need to have a choice of georeferences system (MGA94, Lat/Long etc)
- Either a map selection tool or a default whole mapchart image for PDF printing
- PDF page sizing options
