It would be nice to have a double click action control event as well so users could have the marking functionality as well as including an action control event for visualizations.

Yes, you should trigger an action in the same manner you trigger an action with a single click with the KPI and Cross Table reports. It should also mark the item which is double clicked on so you can use that reference with your defined action if you wanted to.
Mike, many thanks for sharing your idea! Would you please elaborate a bit more on what it is you would like this feature to do? Do you mean that you should be able to trigger a defined action based on double click in a visualization? Is there anything else required? What should happen if the user double clicks on a bar, marker etc vs on the visuals background?
