Monitoring Data Source connections (Spotfire Analyst) for Failure

Monitoring of data source connections in Spotfire Analyst is critical to the functioning of associated Spotfire reports. If one/few connections are not working due to database outage, then it will be useful to immediately notify End users that reports using that data source connection are not available. This avoids to the last minute realization by End users that their reports are not working especially in a Production Environment.

      Its important for a Reporting tool to monitor if existing data source connections are functional or not.

      It's not the job of a reporting tool to monitor databases are up and running. There are plenty monitoring products in the market, IBM Tivoli or ITRS Geneos to name a couple.
