Support SVG Image format to be displayed in visualisations

We currently display pictures in our Spotfire visualisations in tables, cross tables, text areas and tool tips. These images are called using a restful web service. Currently a limited number of picture formats are available in Spotfire and the PNG files we are using go fuzzy when they are scaled to a smaller size. It is really important for us to be able to see the detail of these pictures, but also to maximise the number displayed at one time.

We have an alternative option to display scalable SVG images. These are much clearer, but Spotfire does not currently support this format for picture display.

Many Thanks

    Another vote for the idea.

We use the "Image From URL" approach to display biomedical images, often containing burnt-in segmentation results and annotations. They are generated on the fly by dedicated web services.

Having support for SVG would allow us to serve self-contained SVG files (pixel data as PNG + SVG + JavaScript) with more interactive annotations, zooming-in capabilities etc.

I support that idea in addition to also support animated gifs on text areas out of the box (not only by pointing to external site images)
