I would like to be able to validate library items/folders using (public) functions in the API.

I would like to see an enhancement to the LibraryManager API so that I can validate items or folders before I retrieve the item (to check invalid references etc.).

Just like in the Information Designer one can right-click on an item and choose validate, being able to perform this task programmatically would be very helpful.

    Hello Magnus,

An example of what I would like to do is as follows.

Firstly, I want to create a backup copy of a project before changes are made, so that it can easily be restored.
This I’ll perform using the configuration tool (earlier I’ve also offered an idea where this would be performed using the API).

But before I export the folder with the project files and folders, I’d like to verify that the complete project validates and has not unresolved references.
This in order to confirm that the backup is usable later on if need be, and because when importing a project with unresolved references take a long time to import and also uses a lot of cpu time. It is also serves to preserve the integrity and working of a project.

    Kind Regards,
    Anton.

    Hi Anton,

It is a bit unclear what kind of validation you want to perform. Is it related to Information Links or library items in general? Can you please clarify. Also, it would be helpful if you could put it in context of a large use case.

    Regards,
