From Spotfire 7.12 the option when exporting to PPT to group objects is deprecated. This was a very useful feature because the Spotfire labels aren't moveable. With the grouping option, you could export to PPT and then ungroup all the individual objects and reorient as needed for PPT presentations. That was the only work around we had for this inflexibility in the application. Please add this back in the new export technology used from 7.12 and onwards..
It might be appropriate to mention that the new export technology introduced from 7.10 to 7.12 improves in many areas such as being able to exporting with the visual theme used in the analysis, providing a wysiwyg preview and the concept of prepared reports that allow for authors to prepare nicely formatted reports that consumers easily can use.
Julie, thanks for sharing your thoughts. The editable PPT was deprecated when we introduced the new underlying export technology in Spotfire 7.12. It is actually not removed, but will not be maintained going forward. By default, the old export feature is not selectable from the UI, but there is an option to show it in Tools->Options->compatibility.
Our strategy for this is to improve the capabilities of the visualizations to make editing after export less needed. I take it from your description that moving the labels is one key use case, but please feel free to tell us any other important use cases of editing the exported visual.
I have also taken the liberty to slightly reformulate your description since this was not a change in Spotfire 10 so that other users will get the right picture.
