smooth the line curves in Spotfire

The line curves in Spotfire aren't that smooth as the curves in Excel prompting management preference at times to dashboards with static curves in excel over the dynamic dashboards from Spotfire. Please make the line curves smooth to defeat the competition which does not even seem to be there in the first place.

Please see the two attachments to get an idea of what he means.

Everything gets compared to Excel so at minimum any alternative has to at least be able to do the same (as unfair as that is, given that Spotfire is so much more powerful in other areas).

Spotfire is not management friendly without significant scripting or visual theme editing, and does not export nicely into a powerpoint slide, and this is where a lot of analysis ends up in it's final form.

A jagged line chart is technically correct because there is no true "smoothness" in the actual data given that the each point intersects with a value on the X axis, but in terms of visual appeal, I think the attachment speaks for itself.

a line smoothness/curvature control could be built into the editor.

Important aspect of "smooth" or smoothness is of beauty or the look. Where accuracy is achieved with both, the look becomes another aspect with everything in life. Also the curves in Spotfire seems straight line to me and intersections with different curves (if there is any meaning) can not be said to be exact or relied upon. Curves normally follow some equation unless one decides to jog it.

Thank you for taking the time to contribute. Of course we would like Spotfire line charts to look as good as in any other line charts, or better. Is there any more detail you can provide about what is the most important aspect of "smooth" in your (or other people in your organization) view?
