Apply default filter irrespective of whether there's data present

In Excel you can check the values within a field you'd like to filter by, regardless of the data exists to be filtered in or out. I'd like to be able to do something like this in Spotfire, so that when the data changes, the filter is already set for all possibilities and will ensure the data is filtered correctly.

e.g, you need to filter by A, B and C but not D or E. But while there's no data for C, or D, you can't select or deselect them, which means you can't ensure the filter will keep one in and the other out should the data appear in the next refresh of the data source. If the filter was set for A, B and C irrespective of whether there was data or not, then it would be robust when the data refreshed.

Yes, thanks Christof, I think this'll work well. Thanks for the suggestion

Thank you Roshni for contributing your Idea, and thank you Christof for the suggested workaround. Roshni, do you think Christof's workaround is a solution to your needs?

You can currently achieve this by using a calculated column which only "copies" the values A,B, and C into a new column and disregards D and E (or others). You can tie these to a user input parameter, which has A,B, and C as a standard, but the user can add D or E if desired. In your visualization you only use the calculated column, not the original. This way you circumvent the filter, which will only reflect the data loaded.
