Sometimes you realized the query you sent off is taking too long and/or was wrong. In that case you want to be able to abort the query to avoid data source overload. This is possible with information link based queries (there is a cancel button) but when working with data connections this is not possible despite being supported e.g. by the Impala driver.
I was referring to on-demand data from data connections (not sure what you mean by Information Services). If you spent time configuring a viz you don't really want to remove it to abort a query. Also you might want to switch to another page to work on another part of the analysis, whilst the data is being loaded so aborting a query upon page change is also not ideal.
Many thanks for this idea Mark. The query will be cancelled if the visualization's configuration is changed, if a filter is changed, if the visualization is removed or if you switch to another page in you analysis file. The idea above relates to Information Services, was this what you had in mind?
Similar to https://ideas.tibco.com/ideas/TS-I-6264, so maybe this can be combined?
