The scatterplot allows users to roll-up aggregations to a monthly average (using all the underlying transactions for that month) then the lines and curves allows for an average of all the aggregated monthly results. Spotfire currently has no way of displaying that average result on a cross table (i.e. the average of the monthly averages).

On X -axis I have a column; however, having average calculation in the Cell values and using Grand total for row does actually calculate the average for the row, which is exactly what I needed, thank you!
Now, the only problem left is that the users don't like to see Grand Total, but rather Average, and I can not change that.

You can set the X-axis to Avg(Average) aggregation and have each row grand total to display the average for the underlying row values.
Does this help? Is your request about showing the average for X-axis for all types of aggregation (ex: Sum)?
