Keep preference settings after changing category name

Hi Support,


We are rebranding our product. In this task, we modified the preference category to a new name. And after upgrading to the new version, we found that all of our preference settings were missing. Users have to set the settings from scratch.


Since we have only changed the category name, there is no other change in the CustomPreference, we want the settings to remain. However, after browsing the Spotfire database, we found Spotfire had created brand new preference items for the new category.


TIBCO Support replied there is neither a programming option nor export-preferences option to do it. We have to modify the database directly or ask the customers to reset all the values manually. But that would be a heavy job since we have too many CustomPreference items to maintain.
