Group from marked categories feature is currently a feature that is only open to Business Author Licenses and Power Users.
We want this feature to be available for web player license also.
Reason:
Business author license / Power User license allows user to create visualizations and do lot of other complex features in the browser. For a GMP or GXP process this is not acceptable. But Grouping data together is something we want the users to be able to do.
For clarity, the group from marked capability is fully supported in TIBCO Spotfire Business Author.
Group/Merge feature helps the user to interact effectively by leveraging the control of data presented in the dashboard. This feature is highly recommended for analytics tools.
Thank you for contributing Kalai and Suraj. One question related to this is if you would expect any changes that the Consumer user would do using Group from marked categories to persist after the users leaves the Analysis? If so, should it be persisted only for that users, or for all users?
Other Analytics tools have this feature for the end user(interactive user) to merge data in UI when needed . This is common business case requirement and should be available for webplayer access .
