I am using Spotfire to generate tabulated .txt files using export function / save as .txt and automation services -> save tab as txt to be imported into an application that receives tabulated external data in .txt format to be loaded. Spotfire saves the .txt with BOM - byte -order mark that is not the microsoft standard for a 'plain' text file.
To reproduce the issue, get a spotfire table and export to .txt or utf-8 .txt and open in word, it will ask to convert the file. If i right click on windows explorer and do create -> text file, open notepad, paste the table data, save it and open in word, it opens directly as a tabulated text.
Spotfire needs to export as a plain .txt file w/o BOM as a new option or fix the .txt export to not have BOM (byte order mark) to be the same format as a widonws/notepad created txt file.
