Some customers run DEV, TST and PROD servers. The occasionally need to copy certain library folders or configurations between these systems.
Some customers want to move Spotfire systems to new hardware or the cloud. They need to copy over the whole library and most configurations
Some customer like to create new systems when doing upgrades, so they always have a fallback option. They need to copy over the whole library and most configurations.
The current library export and import is impractical when the library is very large.
Customer try to clone a spotfire system (including its database), to save them the library problem. This can hurt them when original and clone contact each other.
How about having a connection that can be made and fully trusted between Spotfire server (that talk to different database and even have different versions). This can be used (manually) to send or receive library content or certain configurations. This would allow easier setup of new systems, and upgrading, as the default steps are taken, connection make and transfer started. After a short while you have a new working system (on the same or newer version), that can then be tested and synced again if needed.
