Create an area chart.
Implemented in | 11.0 |
Area chart is now available as a visualization mod example for Spotfire from the TIBCO Community Exchange: https://community.tibco.com/modules/area-chart-mod-tibco-spotfirer
To use the area chart mod, Spotfire 11.0 or later is required.
Chelsea, thanks for contributing. I created idea https://ideas.tibco.com/ideas/TS-I-9290 to capture the limitation for the number of X values. Please vote for that and feel free to put a comment about the minimum number of rows you would like to see supported.
This is implemented as a mod but is still largely unusable with large data sets due to the row limition.
I would extend / generalize this idea as 'create polygon-based visualization', like geom_polygon in R ggplot2.
It is true that one can mimic polygon chart (and thus area chart) using Map Visualization, but it is hugely inconvenient and the result is not ideal, e.g. it's a nightmare to mimic axes.
I'm surprised there hasn't been much movement on the area chart. Area charts is what I consider a fundamental chart that should be part of any BI software. Understandably, you can somewhat create one with bar charts, but unfortuntately, it still doesn't do justice to a proper area chart.
I believe a stacked area chart would answer my question from a few weeks ago.

Stacked area charts would be immensely helpful.
Allow the X Axis to be Vertical or Horizontal.
