If we could add an extra y-axis variable to store the STARTING value for each bar in a bar chart visualisation or combination chart, then we could have AREA CHARTS.
At the moment Spotfire assumes that all bars start at zero - if Spotfire allowed the entry of another column/variable to allow the user to specify the lower value of a bar (leaving the upper value for a bar as the existing y-axis variable) then we could very easily have area charts.

To use the area chart mod, Spotfire 11.0 or later is required.
