While one can guestimate how much memory a particular report will take up by loading it in Spotfire Pro, one cannot on the Web Player determine how much memory a particular report is taking up in the Web Player at a point in time (at least I do not see anyway to get this information).
The issue is that there needs to be some real time information about what is going on in the Web Player with an analysis. I want this information to be a able to determine why memory might be high on the Web Player, e.g. which analyses are using up all the memory. There needs to be some memory monitoring in order to determine which analyses to look at if one is seeing issues.
The web player monitoring tab in Spotfire 6.5 displays statistics for each open analysis including how much memory the data tables and the views take up. See section 6.11.1.1 in the Spotfire Web Player 6.5.1 Manual. Since Spotfire 7.5 this information has been consolidated and made available in the administrator GUI under monitoring and diagnostics.
this looks like a duplicate of this: http://spotfireideas.tibco.com/ideas/SPF-I-3717 - and the other is not marked as implemented, which is the correct status I believe
