I would prefer to have all layers re-project to WGS84. Spotfire's ability to pull feature elements (well survey sticks - polylines, and leases & counties - polygons) on-demand (from our GIS database which is all in NAD27) is extremely faster than pulling the survey raw data and using data functions to create the polylines/polygons with re-projected data
When I see this comment I believe the intent is to have the base map re-project on those global coordinate reference systems. Currently the user would have to remove the base map layer provided by Tibco completely and put their marker/feature layer in desired projection. After any base map would also have to be provided by the user on the same coordinate reference system otherwise they'll have a white background.
