Trellis by multiple layers in map charts

When using map charts to display interpolated fit results of measurement values on an X/Y coordinate system (like a contour plot) you're often interested in the density and positioning of the real measurement points so you would add them as a 2nd layer to the map chart. However, when you measure different features with different measurement point grids which will also result in different fit results you cannot properly trellis by feature because you either get properly separated fit layers but all real data points in every trellis panel or you get the real data points trellised properly and the fit results will be averaged across all panels.

I have attached an example where both raw and fit data is in one table but typically they would be separate. It would be great if one could trellis by columns which exist in all data tables used as to not confuse users when they see measurement points of feature A in a chart really displaying fit results from feature B.

With the release of Spotfire 11.4 LTS the trellising of a map chart can now comprise more than one layer of data. This makes it possible to compare multiple measures or categories of data within a single geographical or diagrammatic map.

Throught Tibco Labs this functionnality (Trellis by multiple layer) for the moment works well

Dear Tibco Spotfire product management team,

as per our discussion today please find attached a hopefully much clearer example of what we're trying to achieve. In the old example I had tried to work around the limitation to a single trellis-by-layer. In this new example I did not try to do so and instead you will be able to see what's happening and why that is counter-intuitive.

    Thanks for looking into this!

Regarding the contour layer (which normally would be a map layer) it would also help a lot if the option tiled markers would not be limited to a certain number of markers such that one could easily zoom in w/o the markers cracking up just like in a real geographical map layer.

I think another goal would be to have two layers that are related by a column both present with the trellis operation.  In this example we have counties and in those counties (feature) there are wells (marker).  The trellis is for a year and well type, but we have to generate two map charts with the same trellis operation rather than combine these layers into one!

It would also be very useful being able to show "Trellis by:" and "Trellis layer:" as selectors in the legend.
