For data with null dates, we cannot do a data replacement with text because it won't be of date format. However, creating a whole new display column doesn't work, because we still want to take advantage of other date features, such as binning, hierarchy, etc.
What we would like to have is an implicit/built in way to have a default "null date" text to be edited/modified.
