Free public Spotfire

Is TIBCO planning to have a free / public version of Spotfire (with size or sharing limitation)? Something similar to Tableau public.

I find Spotfire cloud is pretty awesome but the price is a bit steep for individual to experiment or work on small scale projects.

    I super agree with this. My team has bought just one site license for me to use to see if it's useful for our projects, but I'm not the data analytics person and my time is mostly spent on equipment and personnel management. So I've made very little progress in developing workflows for our team in Spotfire and we will likely not renew at this rate. However, if there was a free demo version, perhaps with no data sharing and no calculations just visualizations for limited size datasets, then they could play with it and see what might be useful for the various team members' needs.

    Totally agree with Tai, Tableau Public is a brilliant marketing strategy, what better way can the general public share their dashboard design with the masses except to download and use Tableau Public. I've participated in several open big data related contest, and as much as I love to use Spotfire, I have no choice but to download and learn to use Tableau Public, so that my design can be shared with the public

    However, I think the entrance for individual usage is still a bit steep given two options mentioned ... I prefer Spotfire but the public offer of Tableau is very accessible for wider audience.

    I participate in a local data science group. A colleague and I have shared some work in Spotfire, and everyone is curious to try Spotfire, but the 1-month trial period is a non-starter. They just go to Tableau Public instead.
