There are nodes to import every other type of file - Spotfire, csv, excel, etc. There is no node that would import Statistica spreadsheets.
Why it is useful : Customer now store limits etc in version controlled spreadsheets within Statistica Enterprise. They want to retrieve that from a workspace into Statistica. There isn't a node that will import a spreadsheet from Enterprise or from a stored location into Statistica Workspace. They'd have to manually embed it - when they embed it, it does not update dynamically.
The Open Examples>>Workspaces>> Example_Enterprise Spreadsheet.sdm has been there since 13.3.
