PostgreSQL is now established as an enterprise database platform.
It's offered under a very liberal license similar to BSD or MIT, meaning that it can be used without charge, even for commercial endeavors.
Suppose you were supporting a Statistica platform yourself (or one in each of DEV, VAL and PROD): Would you want to pay for Oracle when PostgreSQL is available for free? (I'm a big fan, so my bias is evident)
