Support for Secure Database Connectivity through Chakra MX in Spotfire Information Link

Hello Spotfire,

Currently, Spotfire Information Links (IL) require a direct JDBC connection from the Spotfire Server to the underlying database (e.g., Oracle). However, many modern enterprise environments governed by strict security policies—like ours—prohibit direct application-to-database connectivity.

Instead, all database traffic must be routed through a Database Access Control (DBAC) solution, such as Chakra MX, which acts as a secure intermediary layer.

Since Spotfire lacks a native configuration to seamlessly route Information Link connections through such intermediary gateways, we are forced to maintain direct database connectivity. This creates a significant conflict with our internal security architecture and compliance requirements.

Request:

We request a feature that allows Spotfire Information Services to connect to databases via an intermediary data access layer. Specifically:

  • Gateway-Aware Data Source Configuration: Ability to define proxy/gateway settings within the Data Source metadata.

This capability would be highly beneficial for organizations in regulated industries (Finance, Healthcare, Govt) where direct DB access is restricted for security and auditing reasons.

  • Attach files
