Integration with Google Workforce Identity Federation

Customer states they are aligning with Google to embrace their WIF feature across their organization. Currently, Spotfire users are unable to authenticate Spotfire as it does not handle WIF properly.


The following is stated in the Google Cloud documentation:

Specifically, as noted in Google Cloud documentation [1], OAuth client management is not supported when using Identity Federation, necessitating the use of Client IDs and Secrets. To address this, Google’s "OAuth application integration" workforce flow [2] allows federated users to access Google Cloud products via their Identity Provider (IdP). For third-party applications to function correctly with Workforce Identity Federation (WIF), they must be registered as Workforce OAuth applications.


Customer's request is to adjust / fix / reconfigure Spotfire to use WIF. The optimal path is for Spotfire to support Google Simba JDBC drivers, which include support for Workforce Identity Federation (WIF).
