When using scatter plots, a nice feature is the line connections. However, in many cases data is categorical or indicate a change point.
In those cases it would be preferable to have an option for the line connections to be drawn only with horizontal lines (with discontinuities at the change point).
This would mean that e.g. a plot of ON/OFF state over time would have a horizontal line showing ON for a time period. When a data point indicating a change to OFF is plotted that would start a new line showing OFF which is also horizontal and keeps going until another change is plotted.
