The steps in map zoom are quite big when displaying the whole world. So in a dashboard for example, you end up with either a map that is too small for the frame or too big. Would be great with a "smoother" zoom / more steps...
Attached are screen shots of 2 "steps" in the zoom... one too small and one too big. Map visualization is taking on 25% of the screen at 1920x1200 pixels...
Agreed that this would be a benificial adjustment/update.
I frequently find that the zoom level is either too zoomed in or not quite zoomed in enough. Smaller zoom steps would be hugely helpful.
I primarly work in the 10-50 mile wide zoom visibility range, which is a bit more focused than others commenting on this topic. However, more steps across the the full zoom range would be beneficial to all.
Couldn't agree more. The map zoom would be great with more layers. Currently if I look at the state of Michigan I have to zoom out to 50 mile scale to get both the UP and LP on the screen. If I zoom in just once I go to a 10 mile scale but this cuts off the some of the top counties in the LP. Can we get a 20, 30, 40 mile scale as well? I know Spotfire is better off as a dashboard but exporting maps to a PDF is the most frustrating thing ever with Spotfire.
I would also like to increase the max zoom without an upper / lower limit.
This is also a problem for other areas / polygons. For example, in Scotland we end up with either showing the whole UK, or it zooms too far in and does not show the whole of Scotland. Being able to do smaller steps in zooms, and preferably make these step sizes configurable would be very helpful as our users complain about this.
