JSViz: Custom visualizations with external data

Currently the JSViz crashes the Spotfire Analyst when you click the JSViz Button in an Analysis that contains external connections. It would be nice if you could use the custom visualizations with external data as well.

    With Spotfire Mods, released with Spotfire 11 you can build custom JavaScript visualization that can use data from any Spotfire supported data source; in-memory, external/in-database and even real-time streaming data.

    Well... it shouldn't crash ;)  However, there is currently no way to access the External Data Table(s) so this is not possible at the moment.

    Hello Vojtech,

    in this case I used an IBM DB2 connection.

    Yes, I meant embedded data which were working just fine.

    I will try the last case when I got the time for it, sorry.

    1. What type of external connection were you using?
    2. Just to clarify, when you say internal data, do you mean embedded data?
    3. Did you check the case when a custom JS viz was in place and you added external data? What happened?

    Our developer is just working on a Spider Chart & is using embedded data (to make it easier to share) but I expected that an external data should work.. I should be able to confirm soon but it is said that the framework & data table Load Method are independent. So I'm curious..

    Nope, Tibco Support told me that you may only use internal data and that a feature request is needed.
