Selectable Date Format for Visualizations When Expanding Beyond a Single Day (e.g. Month, Day of the Week)

We recently switched form Spotfire 5.0 to 7.8. In the previous version, when visualizing data by month or day of the week, the axis would display as "January, February, March; Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, etc.). However, now the axis displays the numbered month or day ("1,2,3", etc.). Because the data source is in the millions I must use in-DB connection, and cannot add an additional calculated column. A "When Case" method works to display the month or day of the week as an actual name text, but then the visualization resorts from the correct order to an alphabetical one. We need an option that allows the author to select whether the axis shows the month or day as a number or text and keeps it in the proper chronological order.
