Restrict Data Export for Authors and Analysts on special Analysis files / Visualizations

We have some confidential data which we'd like to protect and users not allow to export. This is possible for users with Consumer role. Here the admin easily de-flags "Allow table data export in Spotfire web clients" under Appearance before publishing to web portal.

In contrast Authors and Analysts can edit such visualizations and then easily flag the export button. This way they become able to export the data to e.g. xlsx.

As we still would like to give such confidential data for visualization to these users it is required that such a visualization (analysis file) could be labeled as not editable by authors and analysts.

This way admins can still share confidential data to all Spotfire users and they cannot export. For other, non-confidential data Authors and Analysts could freely export.

Currently we do not allow export at all which is a little stupid especially when users up-load own xls files, merge, analyze and would like to re-export filtered hit list.

Thanks for implementing this export granularity asap. Happy to hear your comments and ideas.

    Hi Christof,

    yes, that describes it well.

Authors and Analysts would be able to consult, filter (= "read-only") the analysis file. Important they will then not be able to circumvent with a "save as.." and then in newly saved file be able to do the changes, amendments. The file should stay "read-only" for these users.

I can imagine this is also important to other customers as well in case they want to show the data and the graphs, but not allow the data table export.

Would something like this already be available in 7.9 platform?

    Thanks and regards,

    Andreas

Do you mean a functionality like a "read only" mode in MSOffice documents?
