Please allow us to limit data using aggregated methods when using in-database data Merged

We have a large number of clients and need interactive dashboards based on in-database data. Being able to set to data in part of the field or limit for a recent period would be enormously useful. Is there a reason that we are limited for this? And are there any plans to change it?
