Data functions (TERR, etc) are not suited to process real time data streams handled starting with Spotfire X. However it would be great to have a lightweight process to monitor realtime data and trigger a data function when (user-configurable) conditions are met. The data function might refresh a model as it becomes stale.
For example in a real time vehicle routing application a new pickup location might appear, this would require the vehicle routes to be refreshed.
Or, in a price-optimization context, if sales of a product in a certain region are lagging, prices may need to be adjusted.
