Ok, from my experience with this is that it try's to add data even if not all columns match so given this it would be then beneficial to have this be the default only if all columns match in both data tables or have some sort of option to designate which option you want to have available as in previous versions it took 2 clicks to add a table if the columns matched in some way and in the new version it can now take 4-5.
The default is to suggest adding a new data table. Spotfire only suggests appending to an existing data table if the columns match.
