Merged idea
This idea has been merged into another idea. To comment or vote on this idea, please visit TS-I-7307 Text Area action to "Deselect All Values" in a filter.

Currently we have the ability to create a button that "Reset All Filters" in the Test Area. But we need a similar button to do the opposite. I note that the main Filter menu "Deselect All Values" works fine but not everytime the developer want the user to see the main filter menu plus it is not available in the web player version that the user uses. Even though there is the ability to use an IronPython script, I think it is better to make this functionality available in the text area buttons. Please note that the text area is an area where one can make a single dashboard to meet the needs of various sections of a department so you don't want the user to activate all buttons by the "Reset All Filters" button and go back to clear all one by one before setting for another dashboard display. Merged

Makes it easier for the user and thus to spotfire an easy and quick tool for the user.

    Good morning Niklas,

I agree with you and also I notice that some users using the web player want to retain their previous filters upon refreshing or reloading so have that capability in mind. Since I have not tested that I don't know if you will want to give them an option to save their filter option or just load the previous filter settings.

    Thanks.

    Mac,

In the general case it seems to me that one would need the ability to specify the behavior per filter? Like perhaps I want all of the (presumably few) checkbox filters deselected, but for example range filters set to allow the full range? Otherwise, if all filters are set to not allow any data through, there will be a lot of settings required from the user before actually getting any data.

So, perhaps a new function for Text Area Action controls to Reset (allow all data) or Clear (not allow any data) for specific filter(s) would be a way? Let me know if you think it would work or if I missed something?

    Good morning and Thanks Niklas,

As explained and verified the "Deselect All Values" is for the check boxes only while the opposite of "Reset All Filters" will mean for all filters including range filters. I would opt for all filters meaning to the left most and right most position of range filters.

    Sincerely,

    Mac.

Hello McGeoffrey, many thanks for contributing. To ensure we have the correct understanding can you please elaborate on the specific use case. Like is this for all check box filters only, or do you envision this feature to deselect everything from all filters (like setting the thumbs of range filters to the leftmost position)?
