Please allow a minimum of 12 "recent analyses", reduce recent image sizes, sharpen them, and also allow files to be "favorited". Remove "sample analyses" after user starts opening files.

So I have three improvements for Spotfire 10.3

1. Can you give us more recent analyses? How about a minimum of a dozen (12)? The limit now is only four. There used to be a lot more, pre-v10,  but 10.3 took them away. The blurry snapshots are useless. Can they be smaller and sharpened? Or you can give us a longer list, and make the snapshots expand when you hover over them, like a tool tip.

2. Can you give us the ability to tag files we often us as "favorites"? Show a list of favorites in addition tho the recents. This would be super useful.

3. Who uses "sample analyses" other than first-timers? We really don't need them, especially if they take up screen space that could be better used for (1) and (2).

Starting with Spotfire 11.5, you can now choose to view a larger number of items under each section, and view them either as lists or grids. It is also possible to hide unused sections such as sample analysis.

Learn about about this and new features in the what's new in Spotfire 11.5 page here: https://community.tibco.com/wiki/whats-new-tibco-spotfirer-115

I would also like to see a Favorites / Pinned analysis option, and/or a setting to allow more than 4 Recent Analyses. Would also be nice to able to "dismiss" one from the list and have it show the next one instead.

I work on and support several analyses, and go back and forth constantly -- it's time consuming to have to browse through the library just because I've opened four files since then. Efficiency is valuable!

I would also like to make it like a "list view" in Windows, expand the number, and make it by report name.

    Hi NIklas,

I do not like how this is implemented. Solution is not scalable to have authors resave all of their content.

Will we now have mixed blurry and sharp thumbnails? That's not good in my opinion. Looks bad, especially when the thumbnails are so large.

So, if we upgrade to say 10.8, do we have to make sure the DeBlur option is False at some certain time in order to maintain this setting? Or, is it set on the file when it is saved with deblur=False?

Really - no one looks at those sample files, once they start creating anything with Spotfire. Shameless plug that takes up space.

So, I have to explicitly specify how many recents - fine I can do that.

The Sample analyses has no meaning once I start making something - why even take up space? Swap in the recently loaded data tables in place of the sample analyses.

    Hi Niklas,

I'd like to see "recent data", as in tables already loaded into an analysis, be added to the "recommended" GUI. Often I'm building on what I have loaded, and why would data I loaded be classified as "Other".

"Other" is just a cop-out. It should not exist in this context.

Hi JP, I get the more "recent analyses" and "favourites" (see https://ideas.tibco.com/ideas/TS-I-6062).

As for the blurry thumbnail images, this is an admin setting (since some companies are concerned about data being visible in the thumbnail image). The preference is called "BlurPreviewImages" and is found under Application/LibraryPreferences in the admin manager (see screenshot below). Note that the file needs to be saved again for the thumbnail image to be updated. And that the thumbnail option in File->Document properties->Library-Select preview image is set to "Automatically".

As for the Sample files they do turn up below recents, so the intention is that as users have more and more recents, the sample files go further down the list. If we increase the number of recents as you suggest, the samples would eventually go far down the list, which we hope is a reasonable compromise.

JP, I suggest that I reword this idea to focus on the the number of recent files, and that you vote for https://ideas.tibco.com/ideas/TS-I-6062 for the Favourites stuff. Does that make sense?

Change number of Recent Files in the client.

Many users need more than 4 items as recent in the client. (20) if needed not showing the thumbnails but only the links. With favorites option.
