Create a pivot transformation from a cross table

The Cross table in Spotfire is a nice way to visually build a pivoted data table. It would be great if it was possible to create a pivot transformation from the cross table (similar to how it is possible to create a filter transformation from a filter) so that the pivoted data could be used for further analysis using other visualizations and calculations.

A nice option would be if it was possible to chose whether the pivot transformation should be applied to (and replace) the current table in the analysis or if the pivot transformation should be applied to a new table derived from the current table. The latter would be the preferred option in many case where you want to be able to have pivoted and unpivoted data available in the same analysis.

I just encountered this with a user today -- she had made a cross table as a visualization tool, and then needed an equivalent data table for future calculation and mashup. This would be a very user-friendly way to get to a pivoted data table transformation.
