Independet from whether data is accessed using information links or data connections a company would like to be able to control the user rights in an identical way. In our case we would like to be able to define three analyst levels where
setting up data sources (potentially with saved credentials) is limited to very few data source admins
a larger user group of query developers with some SQL background can build information links / data connections based upon these data sources only
the majority of users w/o IT background can build analyses based on the information links / data connections provided by the query developers
Currently it is not possible to configure users with these rights for both information links and data connections (see table attached). It would be great to have that possibility to avoid mistakes.
Implemented in Spotfire 14.5 with the addition of an Element Administration license feature (see documentation).
We added a new Element Administration feature license for Information Designer users in 14.5 that you might find helpful. However, it does not solve for the request to align user rights policies across Information Designer and Connectors.
