API/Protocol for launching Spotfire web client with analysis file from an external source

When Spotfire analysis files (DXP) are stored in external libraries (not in the Spotfire Library) it would be useful to being able use an API or protocol to launch the Spotfire web client with an externally stored analysis file. The user should also have the option (by selecting File > Save) to save the file back to its original location.
