Register Spotfire Analyst version with Windows OS

TIBCO Support CASE 02152682:

When upgrading versions of Spotfire Analyst through the Spotfire Server, Windows 10 (Add / Remove programs) is not displaying the current version of Spotfire Analyst.

When Spotfire Analyst is installed using the installer package, Windows 10 (Add / Remove programs) does display the current version of Spotfire Analyst.

This occurred when upgrading Spotfire Analyst through the Spotfire Server from 11.7.0 to 12.0.1 and after upgrading from version 12.0.1 to 12.1.1

We currently have a software monitoring program that monitors all PCs for software with vulnerabilities, SentinelOne. Since ver 12.0.1 has a known security vulnerability, and since SentinelOne sees all PC as having ver 12.0.1 (since 12.1.1 did not register properly with Windows), we might need to force all PCs to reinstall Spotfire Analyst ver 12.1.1 locally.


TIBCO response:

Unfortunately, there are no known "workarounds" for this current behavior, so the only option now would be to uninstall/install using the Windows installer. I would suggest you file an enhancement request for this in the TIBCO Ideas portal to better handle that displayed/logged version number in Windows (the actual modules being used are already updated with the latest security releases, so it is an improvement of that installed version number)
