It is common to have both dev and production spotfire environments, and it is incredibly difficult to migrate new/updated dxp's from dev to prod. especially if there are separate dev and prod data sources. The current process I use is export the dxp from dev and save it locally. then save it into the prod library, and replace all the data tables with production ones.
TDV has a built in deployment manager that helps you map and move resources between environments. Something similar for spotfire would save a lot of time and hassle when promoting projects to prod.
